Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.
Who knows. This could be probably is bullshit, but Eisenstadt is a conservative blogger called “one of the brightest lights of the neoconservative movement” by the Wall Street Journal. If this is true it will show up in the press tomorrow coinciding with a slight tightening in one or two of the tracking polls. Honestly. I’m starting to think McCain and his campaign are actually on Obama’s payroll. Nobody can possibly be this stupid.
UPDATE: Noob blogging lesson #1: Check your fucking sources. Apparently Mr. Eisenstadt is not a reliable source by any definition of the phrase. Thank you William K Wolfrum for pointing my late night, amateur failure to check my source before posting. I’ll take some meager comfort in the fact that I’m in fairly good company according to the list of other dupes in his post. Be that as it may, I will of course try not to repeat this mistake. You know what they say, “Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.”
